Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alpe d'Huez witness to an accident

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Were you, or someone you know, on the Clocher de Macle chair at l'Alpe d'Huez yesterday around 12h30? Did you see the crash of Manuel Locatelli? If so please contact the French Police on 04 76 77 57 70 or 04 76 22 22 22. They urgently need witnesses to explain what happened.

M. Locatelli, from Courchevel had just completed his Eurotest when he lost control on the Lièvre Blanc run at 2300 and hit a post. He is in a critical condition at the University Hospital of la Tronche, Grenoble.

Although the circumstances of M. Locatelli's accident remain to be established Police warned that the snow conditions are poor and skiers should take care and control their speed, particuarly over the Christmas period.

I didn't see what happened but must of skied past shortly after as there were quite a few pisters standing around by the side of the run and I wondered if someone may have had an acident. There was quite an icy patch just after you came round the corner so I can imagine that if you were travelling at speed it would have been easy to loose control.

I hope he makes a quick recovery.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Bad news I'm afraid, he died overnight according to a friend.

As I mentioned the Police have again warned skiers to be extremely careful on the runs at the moment.

Hope all is going well in l'Alpe for you. We were due to come up on Christmas day but our friends who run the Chalet de Lac Besson have decided it is not worth opening at the moment.

That is very sad to hear of an accident as bad as this so early in the season. Sad

That's really sad news. I did ski by the same area again today and there is now a large sign warning people to go slowly over this particular section. It really just makes you realise how careful you need to be even if you are an experienced skier as he obviously was. I'll be warning all our guests to take care.

davidof, Not suprised Lac Besson is not open yet - still very quiet up here and I should imagine it is quite difficult to get over to them at the moment anyway. Hope you have a nice christmas and that you get to make it over here in the new year!
