Poster: A snowHead

Boot problem? Balance problem? Conditioning problem?
Boots: Nordica Beast 8W, boot cuff maximally tilted outwards, footbed. 2 degrees underbinding cant, ski instructor thinks 3 degrees or even 5 may not be too much.
Skier reports sore fibularis longus (very sensitive to the touch) as well as considerable pressure/chafe, even bruising of the gastrocnemius as she -plantar flexes- to engage inside edges.
Choices now, assuming boot fit does -not- change:
- more canting?
- wider skis? Current skis: Head C120, Volkl 320Y, fairly narrow waists.
- underbinding toe lift?
- moving bindings forward?
What to do with boots?

comprex, best guess would be either the footbed is not supporting the foot adequately and placeing strain on the course of the muscle or the ramp angle of the boot is too steep....[what size is the boot???]
without seeing the foot and the boot it is impossiible to say if these are the causes,
the other thing could be as you suggest a conditioning problem, how many day skiing has the user had this season, do they have tension in the calf muscles etc etc.
interseting one, would be interested to know the outcome

comprex, ok so that should rule out the ramp angle if it was a 23 or 24 it would be steeper and could cause more of an issue
third day mmm has there been a change in technique, a new thing to try given as an excersise by an instructor which could be using the muscles differently from normal
