Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Austrian Resorts near Vienna if possible

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
OK, so my Austrian geography's rubbish.

I want to go to Austria with a friend to grab some snow - and her family live in Vienna, so we were thinking of trying to fly in and out of Vienna.

So the question is - where's a good resort near to Vienna for an intermediate and a beginner? Or would it be a better idea to fly in to Salzburg, do some boarding in the west of Austria, and then haul across to Vienna and fly back from there?

Seefeld is the nearest resort I know to vienna. I am sure there are some smaller ones though!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

bje, PM DB, he's local and probably knows where the nearest snow is. I'm still mapping Austria into Google Earth and the furthest East I've got is Spital am Pyhrn (on the E56) but if you're going that way it's only a short hop further West to Schladming and the Dachstein-Tauern-Ski Region

bje, you might find it best to edit your title to "resorts near Vienna" or the such like, the more specific the question, the more likely you are to have the thread noticed by those with knowledge...

To edit the thread title, edit your first post (click on the scissors in the box at the right of your post to do this)

I've been to Rax near Vienna in the Summer, it was quite a mountainous area so I'm pretty sure you should be able to ski there somewhere. 30min drive from Vienna.
