Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

They're listed here:
http://www.zugspitze.de/zugspitze/index_en.php

Only Zugspitze glacier is open, and that not even completely.

I'll be there in two weeks and don't expect the Classic area to be open (and if it is only in a very limited fashion), but I'm hoping they open up all of the Zugspitze by then. Doesn't look good, may have to hang out in the casino instead.

gary2474, doesn't look too good right now, but we are scheduled to get snow over the next few days, so the situation may improve by the end of next week. Here's hoping.

Interesting news from Garmisch. They organize the famous ski jumping tournament at the end of December.
Because of lack of snow, they need to buy 4000 m3 snow (about 400 lorries) from Tyrol, Austria.

The news in German is here:

Hmm. The website says the Classic Ski Area is opening this weekend. I don't really see how this is possible from looking at the webcams and the weather reports, but I guess that's good news. Can anyone on the ground confirm this?

I'm there from the 28th to 2nd and am looking for anythig white and slick that I can point myself down. Besides the Zugspitze, is there anything that will be worth the effort nearby? Berwang? Lermoos? Reutte? Seefeld? I'm assuming there is no chance whatsoever the Dammkar will open.

Thanks kerekip. Unfortunately none of the places listed there other than Garmisch-Partenkirchen are anywhere near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The closer areas are just across the border in Austria.
