And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail (at least then the bugs wouldn't keep taunting us with snow reports!!)

FenlandSkier, when I went to whistler, they'd had the worst snow in years, and it had even rained so haard it had washed the snow away.

Wouldn't like it now - much too cold - too much snow - too many Canadians saying "excuse me".

FenlandSkier, it rained in late January (2005) I think, Robbie and stuarth might remember better than me. We were there mid-March and there had been very little snow all winter. However, our arrival heralded the usual heavy snowfall, so the season was saved. There was even talk of the resort having to close at one point. But I think it was just a vicious rumour. Thread on it somewhere, but I can't be @rsed to find it.

I wish I was in the land of powder,
Old times there are not forgotten;
Look away! Look away! Look away! Whistler cam.
In Whistler cam where I was lookin',
Early on one frosty mornin,
Look away! Look away! Look away! Whistler cam.

Yes, that Jan was appaling, well i remember trying to ski, and in the end just resorting to "creek skiing" in the river beds appearing in the middle of the runs for the fun of it. Followed by long afternoons in the GLC drying out. Ho hum, such is life!
