Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt

All lifts closed on Saturday because of strong winds (106km/h @ Klein Matterhorn Shocked ). Took the cog railway up to Gornegrat and walked back down. They've made artificial snow to cover the piste down to Riffleberg but it wasn't open. The new telecabine between Furi and Riffleberg looks mighty fine, but I reckon they've got their work cut out to open on schedule before Christmas.

On Sunday the glacier was open with the chair down to Furg open as far as the intemediate. Cold and sunny. On the lower glacier snow cover is patchy with blue ice showing through in many places. Snow on plateau Rosa excellent. No skiing open in Cervinia. There's no snow below 2000m anywhere and it's been too warm for snow making below that altitude.

Thanks for that Steve. Like everyone else I'm hoping this warm weather will get all the thaws out of the way up front so that December and Jan will be Arctic. I'm in Zermatt from the 16th to the 24th of January by which time the new lift should be complete. Anyone else visiting Zermatt at that time?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Surely there will - but you just don't know until it falls from the sky and stays on the ground
