Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kop - Lift Pass

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Off to Sebia - Kop - for the first time at end of Jan and to be honest, cant bloody wait!

Not expecting it to be that different in standards from my only other trip which was to Borovets - but if anyone can enlighten me...Feel Free!!

Does anyone know if the lift pass in Kop needs a passport size photo? Anything I should definitely find space for in my case? Anything that I shouldnt bother bringing? Am staying in Konaci Apts if that makes a difference.

Can anyone give definitive answer to the money situation? Am thinking of a few Euro (always have those anyway, so not an issue) a few Dinars and then to rely on the ATM for readies - good or bad idea?

All hints, tips and comments (good and bad) welcome.

Cheers

Hi Patman,

You've come to the right place. There are many threads on here for Kop.

Hi Patman,

You're in a similar situation to me, my only other skiing trip was Borovets last year, we're off to Kop in January and from what I've seen/heard it seems the skiing here (Kop) might be of a better standard.

I've been on the message board at www.tckopaonik.com and queried about currency as I've not been able to order any Dinar here in the UK, Euros are accepted but not legally? There are exchange offices on the way out of Nis airport so I will change a few £ notes here and the rest in the resort.

They now have a web cam mounted on one of the hotels which you can access on the infokop.net site.

Roll on January................. snowHead

no need for photos on the skipasses at kop (not from last year anyway), and we got 2 week passes. they are digital RFID wireless thingys, so if they need a photo it'll be printed on there using their camera rather than a passport photo anyway. so no worries about that.

your best bet is to take pounds sterling, and change it on the mountain or at the airport. no idea about nis airport or the timing of the package holiday. i got a decent exchange rate at the bank in konaci (i think you can also change money at the hotel grand, but im not 100% sure on that). its worth noting that the bank in konaci has some shitty opening hours (10 to 3 or something) so you have to change enough to last - otherwise you miss some skiing time trying to change money. (i used to live in belgrade, so i used to have to deal with a lot of currency changers during my time)

dinars arent internationally tradable, so no exchanges stock them and you'll have a nightmare getting anything with them outside serbia.

theres some cash machines up in the resort which should accept international visa cash cards - but dont rely on that. exchange rates for cash machines arent extorsionate, i used to do it all the time in belgrade.

konaci is a decent place to stay, we took a dreamcast (not such a big deal as we hired a van to take us from my place in belgrade - so didnt have to worry about baggage limits) with a RF adapter, as the tv is pretty boring and we werent really into clubbing/drinking at altitude. if you are planning on cooking yourself, they supply all the kitchenware, but its pretty low quality - we used to take a decent frying pan and cutting knife - but thats just us.

english tea if you are an addict - cant get it for love nor money up there.

euros wont really help, as its not legal to use them outside an exchange office.

hope this helps.

dnc...

Wow, thanks for all the info - very useful!!

So it look like no need for photos, no need for Euros then! (will have to find room for tea-bags!)

Hopefully the ATM will sort me out locally, the bank time are mad - hopefully will be falling down the slopes at those times!

Cheers - see ya all on the slopes for a beer
