Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Booking Accomodation Late

Hi there,
Got flights to Salzburg mid December for a 4 day cheapie trip.

Looking at Saalbach, but don't want to book a bed and breakfast incase there's no snow. If we just turn up and look for accomodation, do you think we'd be able to find anything cheap? About 35 Euros per night would be ideal.

Or do you think we should just risk it and book now?

Thanks for your help, this is my first proper skiing trip so I dont know very much!

I dont know about Saalbach, but I have just booked flights to Salzburg for this weekend, I hope to go to Kaprun - assured snow with the glacier, its mainly blues so not too testing. Accomodation is readily available for next week, I have been offered a B+B in a double room for 31Euros single occupancy.
At this time of year lack of snow is the main issue, so I would keep your options open for now, and book accomodation nearer the time, I doubt you will have any problems.
