Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Short Break to Austria late November

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi
I have a few days holiday before the end of November. Trying to do a quick 3-4 days away on my own.
Have identified cheap flights to Salzburg, and looking at Kaprun or Hintertux resorts, both seem to have ready supply of single rooms.
Here's my problem, the transfers Puzzled most of the ski buses only run from mid December, can anyone advise best way of getting to resort, flight arrives 19.10 hrs so quiet happy to stay in Salzburg night of arrival or get in late t the resort of feasible. Hopefully someone can help, thanks Very Happy

Look at the Austrian railway site - www.oebb.at

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You can get a train to Zell am See, and then a bus from there to Kaprun.

Rent a car! Use ryanair or www.holidayautos.com - they often come the cheapest...
It is often the best way as then you can get around the resorts. Don't panic abut the roads, they are all cleared every day!
If you need more info just let me know cos we have rented loads of times and now live in Austria!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

geoffknight, Obertauern usually opens in Nov and there is a shuttle from Salzburg at €39 return. I don't know exactly when it opens this month but check on their website.

geoffknight,

The snow gods are teasing us at the moment. It goes cold and snows then it is unusually warm. The freezing level has been above 3000m so even Kaprun has suffered. On Monday Obertauern had nearly 1 metre of fresh snow, the warm wether means it's down to around 60 cm or less now.

If I was you I'd book the flight but decide on which resort last minute depending on snow. If it remains warm then Kaprun is your best bet near Salzburg.

After all it is free Go on u know u want to!

Looking at the Webcam, that 40cms at lower level looks a tad optimistic.

Would recommend Obertauern though.
