Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

HARRYMAC2702, to put some (unreliable) numbers on it, 90% there'll be some snow, 50% it'll be >10cm, 20% it'll be > 20cm.

Val T should be much the same.

HARRYMAC2702, has Val Thorens confirmed they're going to open on the 18th? Unless there is a big dump of snow between now and then I can't imagine they're going to have anything open other than a few pistes they've used their snow cannons on.

Val Thorens has now confirmed that they will not open on the 18th due to insufficient snow. Opening will be "end of November".

I would say your upcoming trip will see rain down below and modest snow up top. The French Alps is having a nitemare start to the season.

Looking back at my snow reports from last season when I was in France from late-October, the first snow that settled was around mid-November and it was a great season so like Corporal Jones says...

skanky, Well, well I thought all radar stuff in detail was only available on subscription!! However back to the snow, looking at the weather charts to day, the airstream over the Alps looks fairly mild from the west. Berne is currently forecasting 13 oC. The next 10 forecast for Salzburg is also mild with temperatures no lower than 13 oC. So no prospect of snowy weather just yet, I think.
