Does that mean, if I want a boring resort with poor snow cover & an antiquated lift system, that La Rosiere is the perfect place?

Hmmm, although he came in for some ribbing, I felt Mr La Rosiere was overall a benefit to the site. FTS rated him and FTS is a decent bloke and nobody's fool. Time to lay off the guy (and he's got fobbed off and left anyway I think).

Tim Brown, perhaps I had greater experience than you? It's still a nice little resort and I've never said otherwise.

Nickski, I have never been there, but have friends who have had a great family time there.
But - searching La Rosiere on J2ski just now produces only 5 threads, all with posts by D@T, I think 3 overtly appearing to offer availability in his chalets and 2 suggesting the resort in response to rather more general questions.
I think one can over-egg the pudding in selling resorts or anything. Nowhere is perfect for everyone, and that surely is the point of this thread.

Tim Brown, Simple, just put your money where your faith is and book a holiday, I'm sure you can locate the website and you'll certainly enjoy the food.

Tim Brown, I've never been there. (Drove through on the way to Italy for lunch this summer on a day out.) I read somewhere on the net that spit roast was a local speciality.

Nope, never have said the food is bad, quite the opposite.
Anyway, why would my thought on that influence you, you've already dismissed them as valueless so you've no reason not to go stay, you might even be able to negotiate a discount based on your mutual loathing of me.

We really benefitted from the suggestion on this site that we went to La Rosiere, but not in the way that Mr LR would have expected. The skiing was so limited and the weather so poor that we escaped to sunny La Thuile every day after the first 2. For some reason I have skied 20 years but never in Italy, but now we have been introduced we will be back, regularly.

Jane L, The lift pass is for the Espace San Bernado, and some of the best skiing is on the Border. If the weather is bad in France, then pop over to Italy. The ski area is larger on the La Thuile side so it makes sense to spend time there. Getting to the Col area is just as quick from La Ros as from La Thuile.
Here is a video linked by HywelJenkins for La Ros http://kibo.org.uk/movies/larosiere.mpg but it is 44meg

Personally having skiied allover that area (les arcs, tignes, val) i think that despite the slow lifts, in feb la rosiere is as good if not better than val or tignes. that might be because i live just down the valley in seez but still, in mid feb i went to val, tignes and la ros and la ros was by far the best those two weeks.
If you rip the wee wee into La Rosiere and haven't skiied there with or as someone who knows the place well. Then you're just an ignorant ass. and just cause Val costs twice as much as la ros it doesn't make it better
La Ros Rocks. Final
's shoudln't rip the wee wee out of places but advertise them and let people deide where they think is they best

I Seez, it might be helpful for you to read some of the history on this place about La Roz. No-one really is ripping the p!$$, its just that a certain chalet owner was a bit fond of promoting the place as the best answer to every question. I agree though, it can seem a bit strange if you just joined and lots of posters seem to hate the place - They don't really.

martski, Ste Foy aint that bad if you go off piste its actually pretty good off piste, but on piste its pretty boring and having opened another lift (5 in total) it might be a bit better this year. Anyway if you want some good offpiste go to ste foy for a day its quite surprising. Anyway have you even been to both these places
