Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Recommendations. Twin tips maybe??

 Poster: A snowHead

HI

I've just signed up here to get a bit of advice on what skis I should be looking at. I'm about to start my first season and have always hired before - think it's about time I got my own! I'm reasonably experienced with about 7 weeks behind me.

I was thinking of looking at twin-tips as I fancied being able to have a play in the park and try to learn to jump on them and spend some time playing in the powder. I'm now thinkin that maybe twin tips won't be the best as they'll be lacking on piste (where I'll be spending most of my time I should think) and may struggle in the powder (not sure about this??)

Is there a good all round twin tip or should I be looking elsewhere?

Also I'll probably wait til I'm out there (Les Deux Alpes) before buying so will have a chance to demo some.

I'm about 6 ft and 13 stone if that makes a difference?

Cheers all

Phil

phil5556, Like you say wait til you are there and see what feels good. What job are you doing out there. If you are working as a ski host you'll need something that works well on piste as this is where you will spend 90% of your time. Also you may not need to buy if you get pally with the local hire shop (dropping in cakes usually does the trick).

By the way enjoy your season. I did the same 2 years ago and had an amazing time.

I'm driving mini-buses so won't need piste skis for that Smile I do fancy buying my own as I just like the idea of owning them Smile Hopefully I can get friendly with the hire shop when I fancy a change for a couple of days though Smile

As far as I know I'm going on the 20th Nov.

Any recommended shops in Deux Alpes - I think an English run one would be good as It'd be easier to talk to them about what I'm after (Although I'm gonna give French a good go!)

phil5556, fellow snowhead easiski is an instructor in LDA, her mate Jutta runs a shop there but I can't remember it's name at the moment, it might be worthwhile having a word with them both.
