Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Altitude Futures

Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys I am thinking about doing a Gap year Ski instructor course next year depending on how my univeristy applications go. I know the topic has been broached countless times but I was wondering about a couple of specific questions really.

Firstly; I met the guys from altitude-futures at the ski show, who run an instrucotr course in verbier, and they seemed really nice. Has anyone been on or had any contact with these guys as I couldn't find much info on them in the forums here. Also what do you guys see as the advantages of going with a lesser known and smaller outfit than say Warren Smith?

Secondly; he says if in the future if I wanted to work in France I could take the "test de technique" does anyone know much about it?

Thanks.

'Test Technique' this is a slalom - entiltles you to 'Stagiere' (trainee) status in France. allowing you to work within a recgnised ski school. Not to be confused with the much harder 'Speed Test' which you need to get your BASI 1 (ISTD).

I don't know anything about GAP courses (weren't around when I was that age)... but there are worse places to spend the winter than Verbier wink

The only thing to add to what ski has said is that a BASI 3 and Test Technique only allows you a certain amount of time teaching in France.

What does being a "stagiere" enable you to do?

It's not a qualification in the way a BASI is...so it say whether you can only teach beginners - if that's what you are asking ?
