Adam Button has some Salomon 1080 Foil - freestyle boots which have a shock absorbing board in them. They really are quite "squishy" when you jump, but also nice for comfort too. In fact I have ordered a pair for my Xwaves, as they can be retro fitted.
Comfort yes they are great, whether they make you springy like Zebedee or Tigger, I can't quite comment yet!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Jarvski, I'm sure they wouldn't make me jump any higher, but am just wondering how useful such features are in protecting my knees and back from the shock and impacts after flailing in the air for 1.5 seconds
Any other people have experience/opinion on their usefullness?

Superb for grass skiing. , though I'm not a big fan of having them in between boot board and foot since in tight boots that means I get vibration throught the top of the foot.
On regular skis, I don't see them as being useful for energy absorption of large bumps, rather more useful as suppressing the nasties from crossing frozen piste basher tracks & chunky ice.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Sorry to be dim here but which is right?
a) Some kind of vibration absorbing plate is put between the boot shell and liner
b) between liner and footbed
c) attached to sole of boot and interfaces between boot and binding
d) between binding and ski
Surely if a) or b) then the fit of the boot is changed and as a minimum a new footbed is probably require
If c) then binding performance is compromised
Help me out...please

umm I am confused what happens when you try to push foot down at any particular point on this soft boot board...
