Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best/cheapest way to get from Geneva to Chamonix?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I need a lift, or a cheap way of getting from Geneva (either the gare or aeroport) on Friday 10th November in the evening, up to Chamonix (where I also need a bit of floor space to crash on), then returning to Geneva on Sunday 12th November in the afternoon.

Anyone able to help or advise?

Frosty the Snowman, true. Perhaps I should clarify it as the most cost effective to keep the whole trip within budget.

I've done it from Chamonix to Geneva by rail, which landed me in this funny little suburban railway station in Geneva. I think the scheduled Chamonix Bus is better. As far as I know it runs year-round, but check.

What star-rating of floor are you seeking, Your Excellency?

Which shop? Smile

PhillipStanton, that does look interesting, bookmarked!
Otherwise...
The buses are good but they don't run in the evening - I think the last is at about 5.30? Trains - again, I don't think they run after about 6ish. It's a pain - check sncf.fr though, I might be wrong. The other train route you can take goes from Geneva Airport to Martigny (3 hrs) and then take the Mont-Blanc Express. Longer but you don't have the stop in La Roche sur Foron (Is that the suburban station you meant?)

So a transfer is probably going to be best...Someone recently recommended Cham-van.com to me.
ATS really let me down when I used them, but they are probably the best known, perhaps I was just unlucky. I've used these guys too, no problems http://www.showtrain.com/

Serious question, but why not go when there is some snow to ski on, so you can check how the boots fit and go back for any tweaking? Or if your one of the lucky ones who doesn't need any tweaking I'll get my coat Wink

Cheers,

greg

Fair point, but...
My idea was to get them when I had the time (and the shop wasn't too busy). This will also give me some breaking in time with them.
About a month after getting them, I'll be in Stowe, and intend to call in and see Benny Wax at Inner Boot Works. Then, at the end of January, I intend to meet up with Jeff Bergamom from Boot Fixation in Frisco. And in March, I'll be skiing with Bud Heisman from Snowind in Reno.
So, I'm hoping that those three (who are among the best in the world) will be able to fix any problems that SmallCuteKeeper doesn't manage to.
