Richard_Sideways, TBH I never use it, the tolls will cost what they cost. Given the only alternative is to use N roads, I'll stump up the cash.
This was more a (slightly stupid) answer to a common question about costs of tolls to alps taken from the SANEF account for last trip

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

We are driving to Austria for the first time in a few weeks.
One of the savings: NO TOLLS (just the vignette).

You'll need to Register first of course.

Also add in the cost of Winter tyres which is the law in Austria until the end of March

Boredsurfing, yes and saves the Lyon Ring Road and strange junctions!
I'm not complaining but is really badly signposted at mo, which always means it's nice and quiet.
Oh and the Sanef UK service is brilliant

I can also confirm that a People Carrier with roofbox, measuring around 2.40m fits through the 2M height barriers on the 30K tolls easily
Well they do provide a fab service, a little light pimping is ok

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Boris, we've used both the new section of A432 and the Bourg-en-bresse routes recently. There was still queues and slow traffic on the A6 to contend with first, which made us wish we'd taken the usual route, but there again we got stuck behind a lorry fire near the Poulet de Bresse services for 3 hours a while back.

Hells Bells, we tried the other route once - hated it!!!
Don't know why

You know it makes sense.

Yes - but not an additional cost if they are already on the car
