Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting married atop a mountain

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Does anyone know of a marriage that has taken place at the high station of a resort, with the bride n groom skiing down to the bottom in dress n suit (with good thermals wink ) for their reception, followed by other snow-able members of the wedding party all whooping and smiling?? (Grandma descending on the cable car) Very Happy The reception being a good razzamatazz in resort in the standard fashion. This sounds like my dream wedding, yet to find a bride tho wink

Cheers me snowies snowHead

Yup.

Last season the Bride & Groom got married atop Whistler Mountain, guests then variously made their way down by skis, snowboards, snowmobiles, and of course the gondola.

I believe this is done on a reasonably regular basis atop the Schilthorn in Muerren...

The decent (by non gondola means) from there won't be for all the quests though, as its pretty damn black...

Mind you, the Schilthorn, assuming good weather, is an astonishing place.

Loveland (CO) does them. I think a few of the resorts round Tahoe area do them too.

The Schilthorn would, indeed, be a winning location.
Blofeld could be best man.

Blofeld!? Crikes, a handsome chappie like that could woo my bride away quick smart. Too risky. I think Jaws is the man for the job, just in case Granny encounters cable car complications during her descent...

I got married at the Eagles Nest, in Vail. Didn't ski down - it was late afternoon/sunset, but we did ski all day. In powder. And the guy who married us also worked as a lifty, he bumped a chair for us earlier in the day, and called out 'Am I still marrying you this afternoon?' Followed by a cocktail/dinner party for family and a few close friends.

It was a truly memorable, unique, personal day. I highly recommend it.

 You know it makes sense.

My first wedding was on the upper deck of Midchalet restaurant in Mammoth. We then skied down. It was just my wife and I though, no family. We had the photographer and the lift attendant as witnesses.
Second wedding was a more traditional affair in a registry office, in Lanersbach just below Hintertux with family in attendance. The backdrop made some great pictures.

As mentioned above, it makes for a unique and memorable day.

Laugh out loud!

Great to hear your personal tales folks! Magical memories I'm sure.

Hey a possible remedy Ski - time the wedding for close of last lift up the mtn, make it a relatively snappy affair and then carve on down in solitary blissful harmony! Granny et al would have to take their skis too though snowHead

White Gold....ski and Mrs ski are also tourers, so are not constrained by lift times either. Could mean though that they would have been more likely to get hitched at 6:30am, miles from any creature comforts (like running water rolling eyes ) Very Happy. Tin cans attached to the heel lifts anyone?

White Gold, You need to PM Snowangel - she got married at the top of their mountain last year and then they all boarded down together. Friends of mine got married water skiing in Martinique (really - I've seen the video).

Cheers guys Little Angel

Cor Mr and Mrs Ski must be a very fit pair! I find it a satisfactory effort just skiing downhill! You do get all those virgin environs as a trade off for your perspiration though snowHead

I'm convinced I need to find a girlfriend who loves skiing/snowsports for longevity's sake wink

I dont reccomend marriage anywhere, let alone at the top of a mountain.

One fairly cheap holiday, one very expensive divorce lol

Not that I'm bitter and twisted at all
