Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Boot fitters in Saalbach/Hinterglem

Unfortunatley my Chamonix trip has fallen through and a trip to see SZK is now off the cards. I'm only going to get to Saalbach this year and I'm badly in need of a new pair of boots so I was wondering if anyone knew if there are any good boot fitters out there that can do the full service, custom foot beds etc.

Mark2010, I must admit I don't know of any but that's not to say they don't exist. If you can't make it to Chamonix I would go to Lockwoods in Leamington Spa before you go. They have an excellent team of boot fitters who will make sure you get the correct boots for you. It seems there is a Snowheads clinic there soon but even if you can't make it to that I would go there anyway.

Yeah, i was thinking of that also, but being in Dublin a weekend break to Chamonix is likely to be just as convenient. Having only ever bought boots that had the basic fit right I was quite surprised to see just how many adjustments can be made to improve the fit, and thought it would be nice to try and get the full service if I could. Custom footbeds seem to be par for the course these days, and i would quite like to see how much of a difference that makes to the feel of the boots.
