The British Adaptive Ski Team (BAST) has already set their sights on the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver. Following on from their success in Turin last March, the team are travelling to Austria at the start of November to begin the first stage of a four year training programme.
...So far the team have received a grant of £80,000 towards training for the Paralympic alpine skiing events from UK Sport, the body responsible for distributing funds raised by the National Lottery. The grant is part of a £6 million package to support Winter Olympic and Paralympic sport up to and beyond the Vancouver Games.
