Poster: A snowHead
|
I spent the month of August 2006 in Bariloche Argentina backcountry skiing. It was an awesome trip and I encourage anyone who has thought of doing something similar to go!
I've posted a bunch of trip reports on my website:
http://cairnpublishing.com/author/tripreports/winter/winter05_06/bariloche/index.htm
Trip reports include:
Refugio Frey
Volcan Lanin
Volcan Villarrica
Volcan Llaima
Volcan Lonquimay
Cerro Lopez
Cerro Challhauco
Pitre
Check it out and get yourself down to argentina. It rocks!

matosan, welcome to snowHeads
Fantastic pictures!
I see you have skied the "Birkenhead Couloir", I'm guessing it's no where near here close to the homes of a number of snowHeads.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Great pics! I climbed Lanin a few years back and it would have been an awesome ski down in winter.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I agree Argentina rocks! I'm just finishing up here in Bariloche having done two months of skiing at Cerro Catedral with the PeakLeaders BASI 3 course. The people here are really great and the steak, wine and beer are cheap, what more could you want ?
Pictures here: http://www.megeveski.com/archives/cat_argentina_06_photo_album.html though since we stayed in bounds most of the time they're somewhat less spectacular than yours.

I love South America but haven't skied there yet. Its definitely on the list of trips I want to make - will have to pencil in a couple of months skiing Chile/Argentina. Wonder if I can fit it in for next summer?

I realised that. More of a metaphorical "welcome back" than a physical one.
It's miserable, wet and grey in London. Don't rush

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I'm not rushing, but I am looking forward to a decent curry and a bacon sandwich...
