They look suspiciously like big wide skis, and this looks like winter, so why have these men taken them into a watery hole?
Are they yellow submarine skis?
Technical explanations and captions, please.

David couldn't help thinking that these new Rossignol Polaris skis were taking off piste skiing way beyond the limit.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Something he couldn't put his finger on made David think that he had been deeply misled at the ski hire shop...

Doesn't look like my idea of an apres zone watering hole.
I'm trying to work out if the man on the right side of the hole has very long legs, with the yellow objects being his flippers. Not sure if I'll come up with a definitive answer to that.

Don't be stupid! They're 'twin tips'. Anyone would think that none of you have ANY experience of 'new school' skiing. Does it always have to be a boarder that has to grag you gappers into the current century?

They're not flippers they're fins. The guys in the scuba shop laugh at me if I call them flippers. Dolphins have flippers not people, they say
Off topic. Actually, they laugh at me anyway as I'm the only person who buys stuff in a can to clean my face mask. Everyone else uses spit. They say I'm too posh to spit! So why do they sell it, eh?)

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

David Goldsmith, How did you find the photo?
I did, sort of, ask you about this before but assumed you didn't reply coz of professional secrets and all that. But this is photo of a fire crew, not a ski in sight. So how did you track the photo down? Do you have some sort of WebCrawlers that scan the net for suitable article and pics?
I like this one.

You know it makes sense.

Jonpim, I can't remember - yesterday was a bit busy. I certainly wasn't looking for firemen wearing fins (flippers) or submersible water skis in ice holes.
Maybe it was my keen interest in burst water mains.

Skanky, surely he could manage to create one of those all by himself? In fact, the way he's holding his finger up you could just imagine that he's just dropped one....
