Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Kids' Size snowPark for Avoriaz (and new lifts)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Avoriaz Town Plan
The Trashers snowpark will be Reserved for kids from age 5 to 12 and is due to open in Dec 2006 It will be situated right by the apartment blocks, served by a small draglift, and consisting of mini-woops, banked corners, mini-kicks and mini-boxes and will be unique in Europe for this age group...

The Chaux-Fleurie lift is being replaced. The lift links the Linderats bowl with Linga / Chatel and was served by a rather slow 1980s three-seater chairlift.

The new lift, a high-speed six-seater, is being built in parallel with the old lift and looks to be progressing well:

- all the pylons are in
- the base and top stations look to be substantially complete
- most of the lift machinary looks to be in
- the old lift has been de-strung and they have started dismantling the base station.

To complement the new lift, which will more than double uplift capacity, snowmaking is being installed on the Grand Plan run from the the top of Chaux-Fleurie back down to the Linderats bowl. This run is largely southerly facing and tends to limit early season access over to the Linga sector.

New on the ski slopes...

• December 2006: opening of the Chaux-Fleurie 6-seater chairlift. Avoriaz is continuing its programme of modernising its equipment by improving the access to Châtel. Hourly passenger flow: 3000, length: 1150 metres with a total vertical climb of 417 metres. This equipment will be completed by the installation of snow cannons over almost 2 km, meaning that the Grand plan ski-run can open earlier and offer better conditions for this indispensable link with Châtel.

• In December 2007: opening of the Combe chairlift. Avoriaz will update the services for its ‘big ski’ area by installing a 6-seater high-speed detachable chairlift leading to the top of the Crozats and Combe black runs. Hourly passenger flow: 3000, length: 2000 metres for a total vertical climb of 760 metres.

admin, Thanks to god for the new Chaux-Fleurie, this is the location of the largest lift queues I've ever been involved in !! Not only will the new lift take more people it'll also be much faster, now we just need to persuade the lifties to actually fill all six seats with skiers :- seriously this is a great development. I heard last season that the reason this has been so long in coming is that the owners of Avoriaz did'nt want skiers going more easily over to Chatel and spending their money there so had resisted the up grade for many years until now. Not sure if its true or just loose mountain tales but it could be plausible.
