Not August. For example, England had a very average August, temperature wise.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Clear skies in September.
August had a below average amount of sunshine, which suggests that the reason why it was average, temperature wise, was because it was cloudy, and the night time temperatures were therefore kept relatively high.
July though, was just warm all round.

davidof, I also spotted and was also going to reference your Les Arcs snowmaking news item on here, but I was not sure if that would have been bad form.

I'd be a little more worried if Bloomberg were reporting that Switzerland had its "coldest August since the late 1970s" on 14th August.

We will see if there's an "Indian summer" this year. July was scorching, and September too so far. Much depth lost on the glaciers again.
