@Weathercam, …er that’s quite big. And quite a thing given the direction of the climate. I assume they will like mountain biking and hiking.

@Weathercam, I hope the Fahrenheit Seven doesn't refer to the temperatures of the hotel rooms! (7 deg F is approx -14 deg C)

@Alastair Pink, I googled it earlier, evidently it's the perfect temp for a snowflake to form

@Weathercam, well, there was a point to Pointless, it was just a case of what it would be.

Where exactly are they putting this? Is literally beside the Pontillas lift or is it on that private access road out to MMV?

Well after my NY trip, I hope they get it better at grooming and snow management
Granted it was not best conditions and by day 2 I was in a bad mood. I will go back this year!
But point remains, you need romance the slopes well or people won’t come back

@Boris, it was likely due to the poor conditions, it was really good later in January, but you do have a point that to get people back it does need better grooming.

@Hells Bells, it was poor conditions, what annoyed me is it was cold enough to make snow and there were huge piles on the runs down to Monetier but just randomly left, not used to make the home runs easier.
Also accept a lot of the crap skiing was down to the bloke on the skis

@Boris, the piles of artificial snow annoy me too. They'd all been spread out by the time we arrived but why not earlier? I didn't get to ask our pisteur friend which I had intended to do.

@Hells Bells, @Boris, it was total feck-fest this year and was atrocious, especially some of the responses given as to why they had not cannoned all the usual pistes, such as the Casse, Luc and even the Salettes, and the Mickey was just a joke, given how that is the primary teaching base for Ski Connections at the Aravet.
The "conditions were not right" was such a lame excuse given how the canons were working non-stop on the Le Bez piste; of course, nothing to do with their new MMV development, the all-new refurbished Club Med, and where the majority of ESF classes started as opposed to no longer Chazelet, as well as the Off Piste restaurant and pay parking etc etc
I for one did think a Bean Counter was heavily involved in deciding where the snow-canon should be working and not a pisteur in management.
We heard more news today* that the Folie Douce is not off the table atop Pointillas and plans for new lift(s) and pistes up from the Mea all for the Olympics, and next season is the last the current Arvavet bubble as is will be working.
And then came back and in my letter-box was this.
Which all had me thinking should there not be a new thread in Resorts along the lines of "2030 Olympics and Serre Chevalier" ??

So is this a good thing? (More accomodation, more services etc.) or is it just overdevelopment and going to lead to crowding?

Or.....is it just going to be a 'cold bed' eyesore? Crans Montana is a ghost town for most months of the year - huge empty blocks. Rammed at Christmas and New Year...then...empty.

@KSH, ... yes when the big Omega Open is there ...
It was surprisingly quiet when the Worlds XC mountain bike series came....
They have the events, but the second home owners are very absent...

Just wondering the same TBH, there's certainly accommodation that could do with being updated, but replacing it with new is just going to leave them cold and empty. There's a big push to not have cold beds. There's another 800 beds planned for Monetier, but that may have been shelved now due to ecological concerns. There's also rumours of another 40 apartments adjacent to ours. Currently awaiting updates on planning applications.
My other concerns are lack of stuff like restaurants, bars, more or bigger supermarkets, bakeries etc in some of these places.
