 Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone have any experience with getting skis shipped within the UK? I very stupidly managed to leave 2 pairs of skis in a ski bag, in the boot room of the chalet on my last trip of the season. The skis have now made their way back to the UK via a member of chalet staff at the end of the season, and I'm trying to work out the best way of getting them back to me.
I could go and collect them, but they are not very local to me, so I thought I'd see whether shipping/courier was maybe a better option

Size is the problem -- I ended up using Parcel Force

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I just had skis delivered from the ski exchange at Cambridge to NE Scotland. Collected on Monday, delivered today. The used UPS as their courier. The skis arrived in perfect condition, but they were pretty securely packed. It added £30 to the cost of my skis.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@karin, I'd recommend https://uk.interparcel.com. Select their 'Streetwise' service operated by APC. A couple of pairs of skis in a single box/bag will be low £30's inc VAT for a next working day delivery or just a few £'s more for a Saturday delivery. Be careful if the skis are in a bag as opposed to a box as some carriers (ie UPS) will retrospectively charge more if the parcel isn't boxed.

Recently sent some skis in UK mainland using transglobal express as brokers for UPS standard service. £22.15 including collection. Cheapest I have had in a while. 170 x 15 x 15

I used transglobalexpress and chose DHL Parcel UK to ship some 172cm long skis.
Just under £28 of which £5 was additional insurance, £7.60 was long length surcharge and £4 was collection.

@Glosterwolf, @damanpunk, noting Spyderjon's comment about boxed vs bagged, were the skis you sent boxed or bagged, and if bagged, were you charged extra? Both UPS and DHL appear to be cheaper than APC, but my skis are definitely only bagged.

Sorry I should've clarified they were boxed. I use that term loosely though as it was 3 different boxes mashed together

I followed the recommendations from @spyderjon for UK dispatch and everything worked fine. This was for skis without bindings and I wrapped them in cardboard cut from old cardboard boxes. The courier was quite happy with that.
