Popped along to the feestyle evening at Hemel, yesterday. Definitely mixed reviews on my freestyle abilities.
However, as my session was coming to a close, I decided to go out with a literal bang and managed to come a bit of a cropper. Having landed a small pop off the beginner box, I hadn’t anticipated just how many people had gathered below waiting for the next jump and when I tried to stop I hit a patch of ice and proceeded to attempt to ski through an unwitting snowboarder’s legs. Needless to say, I didn’t pull it off and said snowboarder ended up sitting on my head. Fortunately, we both came out relatively unscathed, with only me suffering a somewhat squished head. After coming off the slope, I had a look at my poor helmet and noticed it is a bit squished. The plastic along the back is a bit deformed and there’s a small crack on the edge. I feel this helmet may have earned early retirement.
So, a somewhat rhetorical question, perhaps, but I assume this helmet is indeed done?

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

With that crack/compromise, doesn't look like anyone could reasonably offer contrasting view to your own.
At least you're unscathed, effectively completed its job of protecting you it seems.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

for any other protection gear (e.g. for Shins if you were in ski racing lets say) i could say keep it.
But everything which has to do with Head / Back, nope...
definitely sent it to the cemetary and buy a new one
Do not take the risk. Do not forget what we have inside the helmet.

"It is with a heavy heart that I write these farewell words, my faithful friend. Your memory will forever live on in my heart, as your memory of me will live forever in the new interior shape of your padding, and the cracks in your shell. Whenever I made mistakes, you never made me feel bad about them, or after them, but instead instilled in me the confidence to get up, dust myself off, and carry on. I find comfort in knowing that through your efforts, my head is still the same shape as it always was. So today, I say goodbye to a friend, whose support and protection kept me safe when things were looking bleak. They’re no longer by my side, and losing them has left a gap in my life that will need to be filled. I will carry forever the moments we shared that I’ll never forget. Rest in peace, my old companion."
*Moment of reflection*.... "Right! Time for some helmet shopping!"

I know the helmet is molded and not 3d printed, but nevertheless ABS no less !
Our Polymer, who art in the factory,
Hallowed be thy filament.
Thy 3D print come,
Thy layers be done,
On the heated bed as it is in the slicer.
Give us this day our daily ABS,
And forgive us our stringing,
As we forgive those who use PLA against us.
And lead us not into warping,
But deliver us from warping,
For thine is the nozzle, the tensile strength, and the styrene,
Forever and ever.
Amen.

I'd assumed (prior to this thread) that it was derived from a phrase like "something broke" when not knowing what happened. Giving slang by breaking the word broke in misspelling it, giving comedic "borke" and past the event "borked" as here.

I think your suggestion of the etymological origin of "Bork" as being a misspelling is quite likely. Similar to the origin of "pwned" from "owned".
