Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Head e-race pro bargain

'Head's up (wahey) to my fellow Snowheads. If I didn't already have a pair then I'd buy these. They are a seriously, seriously good ski. Way more accessible and usable than any of the reviews would have you believe. During a week in St Anton recently I used mine on morning concrete, soft snow, big soft bumps, porridge-like slush and even some fairly gnarly ski routes with a few centimetres of fresh snow on them. The only slight negative is they are fairly heavy, so after a week of afternoon slushy bumps my legs were very, very tired. At 700 quid I'd venture they are a bargain! And so beautiful to behold in the flesh too.

I enquired about a slightly used pair of these yesterday in a rental shop, and was quoted €800 ...I wasn't really that interested in the model anyway, as i couldn't swap my Protectors onto them , but even so , I thought he was taking the proverbial.

@Smokies and Wine, Protector bindings will be available for this ski before next season. That was a deciding factor in me buying mine.

@greengriff, I have Head WC rebels e-speed, which are an absolute blast on any hard or icy piste and are surprisingly manageable on soft snow as long as there is a firm base somewhere underneath. Definitely not a powder ski!
These look like they are more all-mountain? I can definitely recommend the rebels e-x line if skiing fast is your thing! As for price, mine were listed at €1100, but I got them for €750, with binding which I think was fair!

@Steilhang, These are a more manageable radius than the e-speed, but otherwise the construction is the same I think. Pro models have phenolic sidewalls, more aggressive base edge angle, and a different race plate to the regular models. They certainly can go fast, but are surprisingly not at all bad at going very slowly too, as I found out when guiding a lost German beginner from Zurs to St Christoph.

Yes but thats another pair that cant be shifted from ski to ski, which is a significant benefit of the regular protectors.

@Smokies and Wine, I'd actually thought about buying the Kastle Triflex (i.e.freeflex) powerrail and installing it on the ski so I could use the regular Protector. I saw on another forum that it's been done by someone else and they claim the results are good. For the small cost of the rails I still might do it to try it out. Looks butt ugly though compared to the lovely standard setup.
