Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Deux Alpes in May

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Has anyone done Les Deux Alpes at end of May - Im considering a may easter half term trip with the kids (last week of May)...

As I understand it the full season opening ends start of may, with just the higher bits of the resort staying open until end of May, and then from June onwards its just the glacier.

May is looking cheap but I imagine its going to be about as 'spring ski conditions' as you can get - icy in the morning and soup after lunch. I'll be on a board and the slush can actually be quite fun but the I fear the kids might not enjoy ice/slush... kids are 8 and 10 and both intermediate skiers. We'd stick them in lessons if they are still running (but not essential if not). Id hope to get some skiing done in the mornings and then afternoons we can always do other stuff if its too slushy...

Flights are cheap, accom is cheap, ski passes are cheap - and it beats staying in London...

Anyone done anything similar? Does everything stay open in town? Are the lifts open at normal times or do they start and stop early (i know they do in summer).

Any experiences or tip greatly appreciated...

EDIT: The one time I went was in June, have been to Hintertux during half-term week.

I don't remember seeing any ski school groups at all.

Most of the glacier will be divided up into lanes for race training.

To clarify - we would be going in late May where the upper parts of the resort are open (not just glacier) so hopefully there would still be enough moutain to have some fun on..

I think that late May falls into the early Summer ski period so only the highest slopes (down to the Jandri 3s mid station at 2600m) will be open from somewhere like 8am to 12:30pm.

This is a decent video to give an idea of what you get:

Thanks! It was actually that video that gave me the idea in the first place - but keen to hear from anyone on skis and/or with kids...

The Les2Alpes website shows 3 phases of the season:

WINTER SKI SEASON = 29 NOVEMBER 2025 - 3 MAY 2026
HIGH-ALTITUDE SKIING = 4 MAY - 31 MAY 2026
TRAINING SKIING = 1 JUNE - 5 JULY 2026

So we would be in the May inbetween part of the season rather than full summer skiing - What is not clear on the website (at least as far as I can see) is whether the morning only lift opening starts in May, or if its just from June onwards...
