Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Roc d'Enfer (PdS) Closing

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I can't find this being discussed on Snowheads: were you aware that Roc d'Enfer (St Jean d'Aulps, part of Portes du Soleil) would definitely close at the end of this season?

I am not sure whether rules allow posting the fundraising campaign link.

I think it was mentioned in the PdS thread.

I think so. Glad I tried the Tour last month. I feel like there's an impact for the whole of PdS.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

My wife has a friend whose family stay there every year, iirc they have a place there, going to be a big impact on the area, never actuskied it but we were intending to next year as staying for a month in PDS area

I don't recall seeing this on the PdS thread or anywhere else, nobody I've spoken to (OK, that's not many) has heard about it and I can't find anything online. So please post more details!

Edit: Of course as soon as I posted that I managed to find something, seems like they're massively in debt, closure "threatened" but not actually happening yet, but gone into administration in January.

Will be interesting to hear how things are going by the close of the season, there's been a massive campaign on facebook to bring visibility to it. Got to say, the videos and pictures people were posting in groups made it look great!

It's an OK day's skiing but short of someone finding a way to link it into the back of Mont Chery very isolated from the bulk of the PdS so not a suprise it's struggling.

That would be good if a link could be found to work. I love thr mont chery runs to be honest some of the lifts there could do with renewing

It’d be interesting to know how profits from PdS area passes are allocated to the different area lift companies. I would have thought a full area pass is the most popular option across the 12 domains? I do love the unique character of the PdS v the conveyor-belt feel of the 3Vs but the fact that just 2 lift societes manage 600 KMs of slopes has its massive benefits.

When we had our place in Les Gets there was definitely a plan to connect it to mont Chery, would be tremendous

@orange, I remember it would have involved going through a nature reserve (or similar) so would have been a huge battle to get approval.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Apparently there used to be a bus but that is no longer running. That makes it pretty tricky for most folks to get there.
I saw posts on FB and it looked enticing, but with no linked runs nor any transport, it was a no go.

you can see Roc d'Enfer just there from the top of MT Chery. looks like a lot of potential piste just waiting to be tapped. would be so fab to have them linked. you could go from St Jean d' Aulps over to Les Gets and back easily. would be a bonus to everyone skiing PdS !

Coming back to this - part of me would love this, but the other would strongly disagree! It's an area that should stay free from crowds (and left to ski tourers... at least from Encrenaz to Rati as I wouldn't dare going further it was already looking scary when seen from the other side in Graydon)
