I have a pair of Smith squad goggles and the silicone gripper on the strap has gone soft and horrible, leaving a sticky mess all over my helmet.
Now i like the goggles and hate wasting stuff thats still serviceable. So if i scrape all the mess off, anyone have any recommendations for the best replacement silicone product to puton was thinking of putting small blobs of clear bathroom silicone on the strap as a replacement.

Maybe try some blobs of bathroom silicon on a bit of rag first to see how it behaves and if it grips well enough when touching the helmet.

Or maybe a few blobs or strips of silicone on the helmet.

Does anyone sell replacement goggles straps? You could have mine as the goggles broke, but as they are sewn on it might not work easily.
I’d post but not EU to UK, not worth it sorry.

Sell or give to someone who doesn’t wear a helmet.

I have blood spatter all over the white strap to my 1 week old goggles. Can't decide if I should try and clean it or just wear it as a badge of honour. Unfortunately the blood is not mine so that would feel a little fake...

Carrying a child down the mountain to get some rapid first aid on a very bloodied face after an accident with a fence. Quite a nasty few cuts but it’s remarkable how quickly a 5 year old body heals!
So not quite as ‘glamorous’ as a bank robbery.

Anyone who shaves knows how much faces can bleed.
Your story is admirable but boring. Try to think up something about foiling a terrorist attack.

I had to wash blood out of my goggles after a 6 foot gravity induced piste interface, leaving it in there wasn't an option....well not if I wanted to see out of them again.

Indeed it is. Which is why I didn't offer it originally

POC are great at this. I've had straps, google clips, several bits FOC for just asking. One of my ski buddies was sent a new lense for his POC Levator (google it) helmet FOC.

@Mollerski, ...second that re POC. Great after sales service.
I wanted another back protector for a growing Grom and couldn't find one in the UK, so I phoned POC from Cambridge (UK) re stock and they said - '...ah there's one in Chamonix. They'll call you...'
Really?
Yep, 20 mins later a call from Cham and the back protector in the post that afternoon.
Then....bit of an argument between a low branch and my POC Octocon full face mtb helmet and after an enquiry for a (paid) replacement POC Stockholm simply popped a new visor in the post FOC.
Rather jolly good.

Most blood will come out after copious soaking and agitating in cold water (not hot!) , then generous application of washing up liquid.
Alternatively, “yes their suicide vests didn’t give me much choice, but MI6 told me not to say more until the trial”…

I had a helmet go like this once... You can sometimes recover silicone with corn starch to take the stickiness out of it, but it depends how far gone it is.

@Orange200, ...actually...and I hesitate to say this...but human saliva (or spit as doctors refer to it) is the very best way to remove human blood...never conjures up a nice image but boy does it work.
mechanism?
Salivary amylase is an enzyme found in human saliva, primarily produced by the parotid glands, that initiates the digestion of complex carbohydrates (starch) into simpler sugars like maltose. As an \alpha-amylase requiring calcium, it breaks \alpha-1,4-glycosidic bonds.
Human blood?
It digests it....
Nice.

If the strap is still fine and you just want to replace the grip, you could use something like "sock stop" which should do the job. Although a bottle of it is probably as much as the replacement strap above, but it should be a better option than the sealant.

@valais2, thanks! I will adjust that knowledge to the quantity of blood in question.
(…next full moon…)
Does it work equally if the blood has been dry for days? I’d assume a colour stain stays.
