Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lindsey Vonn Olympics

As reported just now on Sky Sports - pretty amazing if she actually manages to get down in one piece! My knees ache at the very thought of it!

Vonn 'confident' she will race at Olympics despite 'completely ruptured' ACL in left knee
Lindsey Vonn has confirmed that despite a ruptured ACL, she skied on Tuesday and will compete at Milano Cortina.
Vonn confirmed she "completely ruptured" her ACL, has bone bruising, "plus meniscal damage".
But after three days of physical therapy and consultations with doctors, Vonn went skiing on Tuesday with a brace on her knee.
"It feels stable, it feels strong," she said, adding she was "confident" to race.
"I will do everything in my power to be in the starting gate."
Vonn crashed in a downhill in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on Friday and ended up in the safety nets. After skiing down to the bottom of the course, she was airlifted away for medical attention.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think there’s a female WC skier who has an un-operated on long term major ACL injury, her plan is to get it dealt with properly post career. The TNT team sometimes mention this during races.

I think it should be noted that partial ACL tears are quite rare. It's usually either a bit of a stretch or a total tear.

Sounds like it's not so rare for racers to ski without ACLs!

I wish her the best of luck. Like it says in the article, the Tofana is not for the faint of heart and there are some big jumps with hard landings. Hope the leg holds up.
I assume she will use a brace. How much difference does that actually make?

Kirsty Muir, our gold medal hope in the ski big air and slopestyle, has returned from ACL surgery not that long ago. But she only discovered that she had a torn ACL when she tweaked her knee on in a comp, did the 2nd run, finished highly etc. but then went for a scan. Where she was told "you have a torn ACL, it wasn't recent though, you must have been competing without it for a while. She had no idea when it happened.

Chose to get it fixed pre Olympic cycle but I assume that would have been a different choice closer to the Olympics.

LV said in the press conference that she'll be using a brace.
