Roof just reignited, they must be concerned it’ll spread to connected properties

Looks pretty serious. Yes, they seem seriously worried about risk of spreading.

Seems the fire has spread to the Lana next door.
Very, very prominant position in 1850, just off to the right of the main lift station

For anyone staying in resort. My wife’s instructor got messages telling him that due to the amount of water used already, the village water supply can’t be trusted for drinking right now

Hate to see this.
Hope they can prevent any spread.

A blaze started in the attic of the £11,000-a-night Grande Alpes, in Courchevel 1850, at around 7pm on Tuesday.

is that the same street where another fire happened a few years ago? I'm sure I had a lovely meal about 10 years ago in a restaurant there (maybe opposite a Prada shop?) in a building which later burnt down. Not sure what street it was on though so maybe I'm mistaken. Street view seems to match my memory of how we reached said restaurant and how we got back to the pistes, but I suspect the buildings have changes as I don't recognise them as the one where we ate

They’re reporting no casualties and everyone accounted for, thankfully. However, a few of the firefighters have apparently been affected by the smoke, hopefully not too serious.

Latest...
"2:50 p.m.: The prefect of Savoie, Vanina Nicoli, announces that the fire is under control. The causes of the fire are not yet known. The Lana, the hotel next door, is now out of danger. No casualties were reported, however, six firefighters were slightly injured. The establishment was recently inspected and no problems were noted."

Now under control and nearly out. Still smoking with flickers of flames. The roof and one side of the building has been torn off

We passed through 1850 at about 11am today when flames were leaping out the top floor window. I hadn’t realised it had been going for so long. It probably expliained why the foggy air around Courchevel smelled smoky. Glad it’s said to be under control…as it didn’t look much like it at the time!

@jamescollings, Isn't this the second alpine blaze this week? One in Switzerland if I recall.

I’m in courchevel right now (hence being aware of this one). Rumour is that a wood burner in the penthouse was the cause.
Someone else above posted about a Chalet in Verbier

I saw that Verbier one. I was in Bruson and you could clearly see a massive orange fire and for a time there was a huge black cloud of smoke over the town.
