Not asking for a resort review, but I'm sitting in front of the tele watching all the palaver of Trump arriving at Devos for whatever he is doing there. Do the the meetings there of all the VIPs get in the way of the skiing of us mere plebs?

Trump must be the world's best skier though, everyone will stop to admire him ...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@TCSC47, no, but they get in the way of finding anywhere to stay. (Maybe Klosters might be a good bet that week).
In the summer we got chatting to a Swiss couple doing the same holiday (in Norway) and they told us they had a ski apartment in Davos. They didn't run it as a rental, except for this one week when they got income to cover the whole year's costs.

With determination it’s a great time to ski with very quiet slopes. As said above, main thing is accommodation costs go through the ceiling. Roads and buses are impacted a fair bit by diversions and delays, but trains linking resorts are running. Rinerhorn is closed, as is the motor home area down there due to a temporary Army and Security garrison.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not personally (was there the week after and it was all back to normal) but known people who have been with work. Town was comically busy, not a restraunt table to be had anywhere, and there are exclusion areas, vehicle checks etc (moreso the bigger the cheese who is in attendance, as you'd expect). They only got to go up a couple of mornings thanks to their meeting schedule, but it was basically no different to anywhere else she'd been, although they did get shooed back off of a lift by someone who was clearly guarding a VIP.

@TCSC47, Having worked on "Davos" I wouldnt go near the place whilst WEF is on. It is impossible to get accommodation within an hour's drive of the place unless it is booked a couple of years in advance. The Swiss Government effectively takes over, with high security everywhere. The locals make vast fortunes renting out every small apartment and anywhere that can be used for side events. Prices for food & beer double. Go ski somewhere else.

I'm going next week, and have been told while the slopes are quieter , the town itself is a nightmare . Should be back to normal by the 30th ( I hope)

Why’s the Rinerhorn closed, when it’s unconnected to Platz and Dorf?

Stayed in hostel by the railway station in Klosters. Pistes empty and more importantly off piste untracked until you ski into a Swiss army patrol in the woods hilarious walking thru Davis full of suits. Recommended if you can find somewhere to stay.

Some or all Rinerhorn car parks are used for military trucks and equipment and presume they get compensation for lost ticket revenue. The soldiers get to use the Rinerlodge and some sleep in tents, no 5 star WEF accommodation for them.
