Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just had this from my friend in St Foy :

'St foy is closed. Massive avalanche in marquises run. From the top taken out main run, crossed the off piste and back over the main run. 1 girl rescued and maybe 7 others buried. About 100 people helping to search with probes..
TV crews here..'

Avi risk was 4/5. That section is a high risk area anyway, but having a big dump after a prolonged period of hard pack is not good.

News on the Tignes groups via someone who used to live in Ste F and has contacts, is that all the folks buried have been evacuated but the state of injuries is unknown.

To confirm four caught on the piste and rescued I understand unharmed . The avalanche started in an area on the ridge above by “the cross” well known entry point . The area is covered by dynamite lines .

@Le Grand Renard, yes, it's steep up there, I remember seeing someone launch off there in dramatic fashion. It was a memorable day off the Foglietta for us.

Everyone is ok. Big effort by pisteurs, locals and pisteurs + dogs from neighbouring resorts to get a big search team together quickly to make sure.

Blimey. Skied that a lot last year. Glad the reports are that no one was seriously injured.
