 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi folks,
Having to wear specs these days and have changed my normal Smith Chroma Pop squad XL to Anon M4 as the low bridge version seemed to fit better. These goggles are supposed to be OTG and to be be honest it’s not particularly comfortable and I don’t get in with contact lenses.
Any recommendations for inserts? Brands and coatings? Quoted €380 for inserts from the opticians in Val T where I got the goggles. I don’t fancy that.
Help

At 1 point I had some Adidas goggles with prescription inserts but I didn’t get on with them as the inserts were too close to my eyes meaning my eyelashes brushed them when I blinked. When did you last try contact lenses? The technology has improved hugely in recent years.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try a visor helmets, best solution for prescription glasses wearers.

@Gordyjh, +1 from me...i have myopia/hypermetropia and astigmatism (do not really know exactly the words in English but i have the whole packate ! ! !) and i tried almost everything...give it a try with CL. Is nothing better for skiing...
@t44tomo, also +1 . Except the above i developed during tha lst 4-5 years strabismus. I have an appointment later this year, probably for an OP, but until this time i have to use the prism lenses, for which unfortunately there are not contact lenses. So i bought the Head Radar.... I can still skiing without the prism glasses, but when the visibility is not so good (snowfall, fog etc), i use them unter the Visor....

I’ve used prescription inserts from spex4less.com for years now, really good. Onto my third goggles and the insert always fits (settled on some Oakleys, Line Miner Pro. Got to take care when changing the lenses so the insert doesn’t fall out, otherwise no bother)
I did try bifocal inserts so that I could read a piste map as well, but they were disastrous, the reading part was in the wrong line of vision, so back to single vision distance lenses it is, and they are fine. And no need to pay for any coatings or anti-scratch treatments as they are protected inside the ski goggles.
Price was less than £50 so unless able to spend a full season in the snow, defo worth a go! Good luck

Recommend www.youzeeshop.com - excellent service and have been great for skiing and mtn biking goggles.

@Weathercam, If Kaiser Franz can wear sunnies with a helmet I don’t think the rest of us should worry…
