Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arc 1950 shuttle bus / P&V reception location

 Poster: A snowHead

Apologies if this is a stupid question but we will be arriving in Bourg by train & taking the funi up to 1600 then the shuttle bus to 1950. We've done everything other than the 1950 bit before but I can't work out from the details I have where reception is to check in to the apartment once we get there. We're likely to be pretty knackered by that point so I like to be forearmed.

Thanks in anticipation.

From the bus stop, head to the car park exit then up the slope to the right to get into the village. Do you know which building you're in and/or which operator - P & V or Radisson Blu? I think all the buildings have their own reception desks, but if in doubt I suggest going into Prince des Cimes (the one on the left as you go up into the village) and they should be able to direct you.

Edit - I see you state P & V. (A good idea to read the thread title properly!) Prince des Cimes is P & V, so as above they will be able to get you sorted/redirected.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, I booked direct with P&V but there’s no mention of which building it is

The one time we booked directly with P&V we had instructions from them to contact them the day before arrival to find out which building the apartment we had been allocated was in. We then had to go to that building reception to check in. It was a few years ago so their procedure may have changed. In practice any P&V reception will be able to direct you to the building your apartment is in.

I just found this on the P&V website (we are arriving on Saturday):

On Saturdays you will be directed to the reception corresponding to your accommodation as soon as you enter the Village, between 12 noon and 8 pm. Outside these hours, a telephone is available at the entrance to the car park to reach our reception teams who will direct you to the reception of your accommodation.

I've emailed them to ask which building we're in.

I had this issue last year. Our train (Eurostar from Brussels) was delayed, the funicular was fine, but then the shuttle buses were delayed - we had a long wait then the half hour trip to Arc 1950. We went to the first building on the left to ask, and was then directed to the correct building. So if P&V tell you in advance it would be much better and you can go straight there.

Something to be aware of - we asked about return shuttles Saturday morning to catch our train and was told it's not an issue in January. We needed the first shuttle to catch the train. Despite advice we went to the stop early and with five or six other people who were waiting decided to catch the shuttle up to 2000 where it turned around and went back to 1950. And guess what, it was packed out completely at 1950 and some couldn't get on. We were very glad we were early and we'd done the up/down trip to 2000.

They have people by the barriers at the entrance to the car park on Saturdays - I suspect that is what they are referring to. Prince des Cimes reception is 24 hour.

Thanks everyone,
A nice man from 1950 rang earlier to confirm that we need to see the people in the carpark when we arrive & they will let us know where we are staying and direct us accordingly.

We’re not staying for a full week so not returning on a Saturday, our train in Bourg is after 10:00 and not a Eurostar so no need to arrive too early so hopefully that won’t be too tricky.

Now just need some nice new snow if someone could arrange that for me…

Note that the car park entrance is a short way down the hill from the bus stop, by the big sign. You might want to go into the car park at the exit and make your way round to the entrance - just keep turning right. Worth a look at it on Google maps/streetview to get your bearings.

Made it here! Funicular and shuttle bus all on time thankfully. Useful bit of info for those who don’t know, if you arrive by train your funicular trip up to the resort is free, just tell the guy at the barrier & he lets you through.

We went to the Prince des Cimes reception in the end & they told us which building we were in, the reception for that building was pretty tricky to find going up & down & across bridges, I suspect the car park would have been a better bet!
