 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello all,
Looking to take my partner away for a few days in early March for her Birthday. Looking for recommendations with resorts with the following:
- Under 2 hours transfer
- As snow sure as possible
- Good selection of restaurants
- Fun Apres Ski
- Easy access to slopes
- Good Blues and Red runs and about 150+km of slopes.
We have done Chamonix a few times which we love but the travel to each area from the town can be frustrating.

Avoriaz from Geneva would tick the boxes... Or Morzine which has access to Avoriaz.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Accommodation in Morzine with an Avoriaz area pass would fit the bill.
130km or mainly blues and reds up at/above 1800m for sliding but with the much bigger selection of both bars and restaurants (and generally cheaper accommodation) down in Morzine, with everything from music free bars through those with a range of musical styles on the apres side.
You could stay up in Avoriaz but apres a bit limited l, mainly the Folie, Le Yeti next door (where the drinks are like half the price and the music's actually at a listen-to-while-chatting level), or a couple of (at least when I've been in) rather uninspiring bars.
And you could get the full PdS pass - but the closer 'a few days' is to '2 days' the less value I think you'd get for the extra money, unless you're we-mean-150km+-per-day types.
Oh, and about €100pp for shared minibus transfers from multiple operators.

I’m going with my daughter age 13 5-8 march this year. We will fly into GVA and I plan to use the train to get to either:
Champery
Les diablarets
villars
This will get me 3 days of skiing - late flight home on the Sunday.
If you haven’t been I’d recommend Verbier - did this last year! Great trip

St Anton via Innsbruck. You might struggle with accommodation that’s not Saturday to Saturday. But if you’re going to the effort of going that far you might as well do it.
Salzburg with plenty of options. Saalbach Hinterglemm, Zell etc.

I think Alpybus now do a shared transfer from Geneva to Morzine (Prodains) for about 20Euros per person - but if you are just going for a few days then a private transfer might be more convenient (ie no waiting around.
