Off to Alpe d'Huez for the first time over Christmas and New Year. Any restaurant recommendations for a family of 5- 2 11 year olds and a 10 year old- all great eaters.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Do you mean altitude restaurants for the day time, or in resort for the evenings?
For eating on the slopes, I'd second La Grange, plus La Cabane (under the Marmottes 1 lift) and La Plage des Neiges (near Les Jeux lift). For all of those you'll probably need to make a reservation in advance if you're there over Christmas and New Year.

If you are in Auris, Le Tetras is really good with a good ice cream selection (if I remember rightly).
Pizzas Pastas etc. Very good food.

 Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not sure what it's called but enjoyed the lunch we had at the place just down from the Poutran middle station, between Oz and Les Jeux. Great for meat and a little drag lift run right outside if the children get figity but the adults haven't quite finished the bottle of Rose...

@Mjit, I think you're talking about Restaurant L'Aventure.
The drag wasn't working on Saturday for some reason, so they were taking people up the slope in pistebashers instead!

Thanks for the piste side recommendations. We'll be sure to check out La Grange which people have mentioned a couple of times.
What about restaurants for the evening?

I just remember it being surprisingly quite for a half term week lunch - though the fact that gondola broken about 11:30 and was out-of-action for a couple of hours may have had something to do with that

Can recommend La Cabane for the evening too. They pick you up in a piste basher thingy and drive you up the hill to the restaurant (and then back down afterwards). Food was also great, and it was a memorable experience. Sure the kids will love it if they can hack staying up a bit. You obviously need to make a reservation - phone number on their website. They speak English.

Two places that we enjoyed for evening food when we went last year were:
Camp de base pic blanc. Fairly large place with a load of different outlets serving different varieties of food. You order everything from the table via qr code. Everything we got there was decent, the only downside can be if you order from different sections then there can be quite a time gap between when food arrives for different people to particularly bear in mind with kids.
The other place was la raclett'rie, thought it was very good as well if you are looking for that type of food.
This was with an 8 and 11 year old in tow.
