 Poster: A snowHead

Hello, I will be riding out here in Feb and I see in order to do both countries in a day it requires the dreaded rope tow. Is this to get to Italy or to get back to France or both?

To Italy only. It's in 2 sections, you can hop off halfway for a longer but chair assisted way into La Thuile

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Amazing! At least if I can't make it up the rope I don't have to worry about not making it back from Italy lol

Years ago while learning to board and staying in La Thuile, we ventured into La Ros. My mate Trevor kept falling off the drag on the way back.
It got to about 4.15 and the liftie told him he was going to close the lift and it was his last chance. Pressure on!
Not wanting a very expensive and long taxi when he again fell off half way up he just kept hold of the button and dragged his sorry back bottom back to Italy. He was quite battered!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I can ride, but I don't know about tow! But I would really like to have some pizza and espresso in Italy so I might have to do that to lol

It's not a rope tow, it's a standard button lift. One of my intermediate level friends came off once near the top due to a big divit just off the centre line, which he probably focused on!
It's not steep, steady gradient, and no tricky downhill bits. I don't recall a vicious start either.

Indeed its one of these things that people go on about as though its something terrible and it really isnt. Its not a rope or a T bar, just a standard button lift, albeit quite a long one, alongside a very gentle blue slope.
Is it not part of snowboard school learning how to use a button lift?

I’m in Canada and button lifts, t-bars are not common at all, at least where we ride.

If you are a beginner snowboarder, a button lift can be tricky. If you're skilled, not. I recall waiting to go up a button list behind a snowboarder and wondering....... but he was on his phone all the way up. I needn't have worried.
