Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ischgl question

Poster: A snowHead
Quick Ischgl question - reading about the resort there are lots of reference to the pedestrian zone but I can't find a map that indicates exactly where it is. I can guess, but can anyone tell me what street it is and the start and end points? Thanks.

@rdk, from memory, it's Dorfstraße, from the roundabout near the tourist office to the junction by the Fire and Ice bar, plus the square where the bar is (possibly because there's no way you're getting a car through when the bars are full!). It's not a strict pedestrian zone as hotel access is allowed, though it might be between certain times only, and has to move very slowly due to the number of pedestrians. Google street view will show you the whole stretch, which is narrow in places.

You also have the Dorftunnel, which goes from the centre of Dorfstraße to the Fimbabahn and Pardatschgratbahn and towards the Garni Eveline. It is shown on Google maps as a thin line.

@rdk,

If you scroll down to the Ortsplan on this page it shows the lanes of the pedestrian zone in purple…

You’re welcome,

Found a slightly better one, though it would be nice if you could zoom in a bit more, you could screen grab and zoom in closer if you need.

The centre is the bottom left section.

It looks like you can order a free paper copy from the tourism office, I think I just did trying to see if there was a charge!

Australia was on the list of countries in their address fields, so fill yer boots!

Just thinking that you may be able to get the in their App maybe.

Yes thanks @snowgood I ordered those a week or so ago and just waiting now.

This is for advanced planning Jan 2027 and I'm tossing up between St Anton (where I have been before) and Ischgl. I don't ski off-piste except for the itinerairies, and in St Anton never made it over to Warth anyway so Ischgl looks like a really viable option for a week.

Ischgl sounds ideal, great piste terrain with some easily accessible off piste between pistes and a lovely off piste area off the back of the E5 Piz Val Grondalbahn lift that washes you out onto a track back to the E4 Gampenbahn lift.

If you fancy an adventure, lunch at the Heidleberger Hütte is a lovely experience. If you can ski itineraries, you can get there no problem, just follow the marker sticks from the top of E5, you have to book though.

A day each in Galtür and Kappl is worth doing too, if you get time. You could even get a taxi around to St Anton if you really wanted to.

IMHO Iscghl’s aprés is better than St Anton’s, it’s got a wild reputation, but you can have a very civilised evening too.

Have fun deliberating! Very Happy

As is a day at See - fairly extensive slopes; good lift system; some great steeper cruising pistes; usually quiet - with an even quieter area over the back that has some nice itinerary routes.

Ischgl is fabulous and I agree with all the comments I think the apres is also better than St Anton and it’s a nicer resort feel but if you return to Arlberg do make the trip to Warth some great pisted runs over there. I always try and get to Warth as well as Sonnenkompf.

The night life is really good. Unique way to use of slalom poles.
