Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Flying Dublin to Innsbruck last Saturday with crystal. Perfect weather in Dublin, perfect weather in Innsbruck, what could go wrong?
15 mins into the flight the captain announces that we might have had a tail strike on take off ( scraped the back of the plane off the runway as the plane climbed up), and we were going to make an emergency landing in Manchester to check.
Land in Manchester, sit on the plane for a couple of hours while they decide what to do with us before eventually deciding that innsbruck would be closed by the time they got a replacement plane sorted.
Then they kept us a whole as apparently they couldn't decide if we need to clear immigration to get off on Manchester ( for those familiar with it, Irish flights never go through immigration on arrival in the UK).
Eventually they arranged a hotel and a 10.30 am flight the following day.

I don't like flying and now you've given me something else to worry about.
Google tells me that it is relatively rare and is more common on landing.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Only the back few rows felt it happening, apparently the pilot only knew as the cabin crew sitting at the back informed him.
I read after that there were crosswinds that may have caused it but didn't feel like a rough take off from where I was sitting near the front.
