Thanks @Alpinebear, great news. Always good to see investment plans for the resort.
I wonder what the intentions are for developing the listed slopes?

Don’t think Alpe d’Huez had as much snow as others. Will see tomorrow.

Will be busy but plan your day. We are hopefully bringing in a reservation system(limited spaces) for the pic blanc cable car so keep an eye on this.

I did see somewhere there is an early mornig escorted run down the Sarenne - that's now firmly on my must do list when I'm there in March!

Some news for the future….
After the work in L2A work will now turn to ADH.
Poutran lift from Oz will be refurbished next year as needs to be done before TDF 2026
This means Villarais lift refurb from Villard Reculas will now be done in 2026
Levre Blanc lift to be upgraded
Sarenne Glacier lift to be a télécabine.
Thanks Alpinebear.
Any idea if the Poutran refurb will be done before or after the summer season, or will it be out of action for the whole summer? It would make it hard to get mountain bikes up to AdH from Oz if so.

If it was out of service you could go up the Alpette and then ride the boucle des lacs which is great.
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. We've walked past the lakes many times from the top of Alpette to the top of Poutran and vice versa, but I've never ridden it.
Do you find hikers get in the way, or are you mainly on different paths?

Generally not. There is a dedicated circuit, xc11 I think. From Alpette it goes up behind La Grange and is mostly on the service road but the route back is nearer the lakes and more fun with boardwalks and tricky rocky sections.

I just received an email from the owner of the apartment we rented for Christmas week. She mentioned that she’s part of a landlord program, and with a specific code, we can purchase ski passes at a discounted rate. Does anyone know if this is actually the case? I checked the website but only found information about other discounts, not for ski passes.

Based on https://skipass.alpedhuez.com/hiver/en/ownership-programme-tenants/, it sounds like if you use the code when buying your ski passes, you will then be given a voucher for other things (rental, restaurants etc.), but it doesn't suggest the passes themselves are discounted.

For owners who rent their property SATA give them a discount code which guests can use to get a discounted day pass and for longer durations outwith the school holidays.
When they go online to buy a pass, they use the code and the discount is applied.

Thanks for that Alpinebear. I will contact our booking agent as 2 weeks of lift passes for 7 people are a reasonable amount!
I was thinking 5% off at Chantebise would be quite useful as my group tend to stop there for lunch a few times over the fourtnight.

Yes, some good snow yesterday. Poor visibility today but great snow up top. So far you can’t go down the Sarenne past the Herpie chair, I guess not enough snow on the road at the bottom but the cannons are going and probably the lower slopes will open soon.
A bit more piste bashing and with cold temps and the brighter weather, should be a good week.

I’m a bit worried about the new DMC cabins. Lovely with 10 seats but when it’s busy I can’t see as many people squeezing on as the old ones. Maybe there will be more of them.

I was hoping the cabins would be more frequent as it won't take quite so long to load each one, so keeping the same throughput overall (or maybe even increasing it!) but isn't that the case at the moment?

In case anyone is interested, an email newsletter today suggests a start date of December 21st for the "Direct au Pic" service for booking a cable car place for Pic Blanc. No information that I can see regarding how to actually book it yet though.

Thanks @Alpinebear, I must admit I had only read the newsletter and not re-checked the website. The English page is https://skipass.alpedhuez.com/hiver/en/direct-peak-pic-blanc/ if anyone wants to jump straight there.
Looks like it could be a useful service. I quite like the fact that slots only open 24 hours in advance, so there's no need to try booking a week in advance before knowing what the conditions are likely to be.

I think the idea is instead of customers having to wait in a queue which can be long at times, people can be skiing instead and plan to be there for their booked time.
It’s all new so fingers crossed it works well!

How much time does it take for an average skier to get from Montfrais to Pic Blanc? It mostly involves switching from one lift to another, but generally speaking, how much time should I plan for?
Do you mean to the bottom of the Pic Blanc lift, or to the top of Pic Blanc itself?
Either way, it will depend on lift queues, which in turn depends on when you're going (time of day, school holidays and so on).
Best case you're looking at something like 10 minutes for the Clos Giraud chair/bubble, then 5 minutes to get on to the TPH2 and 10 minutes to travel up to Dome des Rousses, 5 minutes to kit up and push across the flat bit before a quick ski down to the Pic Blanc cable car, then 10 minutes to get on to that and up to the top of Pic Blanc itself. So maybe 40 minutes total?
However, there may be queues for any of those lifts. Probably not much for the first one (5 mins typical), could be more for the TPH if you time it wrong (10 mins maybe), but could easily be 30 to 45 minute queues (or worse) for Pic Blanc at the wrong time of day/year. So perhaps add an hour to the previous estimate if you're unlucky.
Of course, the new booking system for the Pic Blanc lift should hopefully take away the worst of the uncertainty if you've booked a slot and can time it to get there at the right moment. Or was that why you're asking?

Thats really interesting about the Pic Blanc - Last time we went we didn't get a change to do Serenne because we only had a window when the kids were in lessons and each time the queue was huge so hopefully this will help us do it.
Was just looking at the latest piste maps and notice that DMC is now marked as Pic Blanc 1 / Pic Blanc 2 and Pic Blanc 3 - Is that a recent change? Has the DMC name been dropped now?
