Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt in April advice

 Poster: A snowHead

Wanting to sneak in a late season ski trip in April. Either the 4th or 11th April for a week. I’ve been to Val Claret in Tignes and loved it but seen a decent deal in Zermatt. Is Zermatt worth the extra cost of Ski pass and apres including food? Any advice welcome about Zermatt.

@Redrum81,
Zermatt is one of those iconic ski areas everyone should visit at least once, including at least one day trip over to Italy if only for the cheaper lunch options.

@Redrum81, I agree with @Kenzie, . Go for it.
Note that there is a music festival called Zermatt unplugged from 7-11 April which attracts a lot of visitors. Not been to it myself but have heard good reviews.

Not guaranteed, of course, but Zermatt frequently gets great powder in April. I've been going there regularly for nearly 20 years now and would rate it as probably the best all round resort in Europe.

Just about my favourite ski resort, a great all-rounder with fabulous scenery, snow, terrain, village & food.

Yes it can be pricy (but cheaper food places & supermarkets are plentiful), but worth going at least once - we go most years!

As for April - generally very good conditions with long days. Powder isn't guaranteed but we have had powder days even at end-April

I was in Zermatt when it was zermatt unplugged last year. I think maybe 11th April? The conditions weren’t what I’d hoped for tbh. It was pretty sparse for snow. I think we were quite unlucky mind. The weather closes in quite rapidly here and I think the link to Italy is closed a fair bit due to winds etc.

A few days later was that huge storm that dropped loads of snow. If you can make it out there’s a bit of footage on here:

It’s eyewateringly expensive as well. I think we spent close to £500 for one day of skiing for the family, including rental skis and lunch. And the kids lift passes were free Shocked Shocked Shocked

That said. I’d give it another go.
