Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meet ups at Snowcentre Manchester & Membership discounts

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi Everyone,

I'm a newbie to skiing although I did quite a bit in my twenties.

I am looking at buying a yearly membership for my 5 year old daughter and I to be used at Snow Centre Manchester. Whilst I was choosing the membership option and course I needed, I noticed that there was something about being a member of Snowheads on another forum theead and being able to get discount for a yearly membership. Is there still such a thing and is it worth it?

Also wondered if there were any regular meet ups at the Snow Centre and if so when they are as this would give me a better idea on when I would be able to earmark a day of the week to go along.

I'm still working on just getting to the point where I can get onto the slope and get going so am planning a 5 hr lesson so I can get on with it sooner rather than later.

Thanks in advance

There is a ski club in Manchester (https://www.scom.org.uk/index.html) who do regular meet ups at the Snow Centre. During the ski season and build up these include input from an instructor. Members get a discount for their Snow Centre lift passes. I've not been along myself, because their meet up times are not convenient for me, but there might be someone on this forum who is a member.
I wouldn't bother with membership to the Snow Centre if I'm honest with you. It's not cheap and once you've made a booking with them they usually give you a discount code for the next one which gives almost as much money off as membership anyway.
My kids did the group ski lessons there and they were fine. A bit dependent on the level of the other kids in the group as if one was struggling it held all the others back. The instructors seemed decent though. Private lessons are better for progress but they're a lot more expensive and you will inevitably do fewer of them which defeats the object of getting young kids used to the process of skiing and ski school.
Good luck on your journey back into skiing.

I'd asked in the past if there was a discount through being a super-snowhead associated with chill-factore, but believe I must have been mistaken.

Have been a member at the snow centre/ chill factore as we use it enough to get value from it and the other discounts it offers (Trafford golf, discount in snow and rock etc). Though as Bluebird says, if you make a booking, you usually get an email offering 20% off your next one.

I did recently get an email about another discount for being a valued member that stacks on top of the usual membership discount, so that was good. You also get a free 2-hour pass in your birthday month. I suppose it's down to the individual to decide if you'll get enough value from the membership to justify the cost.

Thanks both for the replies. I decided to take the plunge and give it a go and so far seem to be saving a decent amount. Only time will tell when I start getting onto the slope properly.

I had a quick chat with one of the employees in Snow and Rock and the impression I was given was that the change from Chill Factore to Snow Centre had still not completed fully so will be interested to see what happens to any discounts in future.

If anyone knows of any meet ups please let me know.

Thanks again
