 Poster: A snowHead

Hi. I have an option to join a group in Solden, likely flying in to Innsbrusk. Not knowing either of the two, any advice on what options I have to get a transfer please? Looks like no direct public transport? Thanks.

@Boofont, it takes a couple of hours, and you need to transfer to the train at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, and then onto a bus at Ötztal Bahnhof. Google maps will give you the route. Ticket app isn't giving me a price, but it will be about €18 each way, as that's how much it is to St Anton.

@Scarlet, Thanks. So is that a bus to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof? Any drama's doing this with a coffin style ski bag and cabin bag? What ticket app are you using please?

The airport doesn't have a train station, so the route is:
Innsbruck airport – bus to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof – train to Ötztal station – bus to Sölden
I normally buy a ticket all the way through on the VVT Tickets app. You can do it on the day, the price is the same. However, the route app (VVT Smartride) is saying no route found, so it might not let you buy a ticket either. A couple of reasons I can think of to explain this issue are that some part of the route is unconfirmed at the moment (I picked a random Saturday in January), or the Ötztal bus is privately operated and doesn't appear in the search. Google has it though, which suggests it does exist. If this turns out to be the reason, just buy a ticket as far as Ötztal station, and pay the driver for the bus.
It's entirely normal for people to be moving around with ski baggage in winter, though I don't have experience of the last part of your route.

@Boofont, All the buses I have been on in both the Tirol & Vorarlberg are completely fine with large baggage & ski kit (big rucksacks in summer) but use the side baggage compartment do not take lots of stuff inside the bus, which will result in a grumpy bus driver! Stick to buying tickets with the app (its in English) again less grief for driver.
Just checked VVT app and buses from Ötztal Bahnhof to Sölden seem to run every 30 mins route 320 https://smartride.vvt.at/#

@Boofont, absolutely no issue with your ski bag, the carriages have large areas to store bags.
Public transport is very good in Tirol, you won't have issues
