So, just planning ahead excitedly for Xmas trip.
I see there is a FIS fixture (women’s DH and SG) while I am in Val D.
What will the impact of this be? Anything I need to consider? Will many pistes be closed? Busy I’d imagine. We are staying in La Daille which I see it’s close to the run?
Will these days be difficult for finding places to eat?
Or will this be hardly noticeable

I have been there twice when the Men's D/Hill was on....this was about 20 years ago. They were on the "Old" course down to La Daille.
Back then, it had little impact, except where they were actually racing. Near the top, I could stand at the ropes and watch them go by....and even ski down to La Daille and see all the hubbub etc. At the bottom, we then went to one of the cafes that face the finish and watched them ski down to the finish as we drank coffee.
I also remember having lunch on the outside balcony of the old Hotel Grand-Paradis and watching the racers stump in and out.

@v1cky24, hardly noticeable in my experience. Quite cool to watch a couple of racers though.

We've been there the week before the event in the past and only the red Orange run was closed for prep then training. You could still ski down to LaDaille on the other runs.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks all. I’m sure I was in lake Louise one time a lot of years ago when I was new to skiing and this was on and it wasn’t really noticeable
Wasn’t quite sure if it would be the same in Val D’Isère ! Given everything else is different when skiing in Europe

You'll need to Register first of course.

You will still be able to ski down to La Daille on the other runs.
The major disruption is that the Marmottes lift closes when the racing is taking place so no accidental objets (gloves, poles, phones etc) fall on to the course.
The snow front in La Daille will be very busy with various stalls, media portacabins, viewing areas, advertising hoarding but it is dismantled very quickly and most will be gone by the Sunday evening.
Do you needing parking ? If so get it booked soon. Depending what building your in the drop off/unloading area can also be impacted.
None of this should spoil your trip and is nice to watch, possibly even from your balcony

Been there several times in recent years when this and other events are on. Other than restaurant at top being full of racers and run being closed no issues.

As others have said, it won't affect you too much but maybe an opportunity to stop off and see a few of the racers come down.
As Muppet said, it will be busy down on the La Daille snow front. We usually stop and watch for a bit before heading off ourselves. If you wanted to avoid, just head up to the Solaise and Le Fornet over the weekend and you wouldn't even know it was going on.
Hope you have a great trip. We should be out then too.

@muppet, yes, last time I was there I took a free vin chaud as it was so cold...and I hate the stuff. Many years ago I shouted 'Aksel' and he turned to me..I blew him a kiss and he smiled back...not the year you and I shared a chalet but within a year or two
