Hi
Anyone got any advice/suggestions/recommendations about accommodation for 2 people in Les 2 Alpes over Xmas? We don't want self catering but don't mind either a catered chalet or a hotel
Thanks

Hi Michelle & Easiski
We'd like HB as we don't want to cook. Can't afford anywhere too expensive but either cheap & cheerful or medium would do but as would prefer ensuite if possible I guess that will push up the price. Doesn't have to be a hotel, a catered chalet would do just as well.
Thanks

If you want TO hols, try Crystal, Thomson, Neilson, Mark Warner, Skiworld, TOPS - all have hotels. First Choice also have several chalets. On top of that there are numerous independent hotels - I've heard good things about the Chalet Mounier and the Souleil d'Or - three-star, between 75€ and 135€ pppn half board. But there are plenty of cheaper 2* places as well, max price about 90€.
Try the tourist office (04 76 79 22 00) or the centrale de reservations (04 76 79 24 3 for info and booking. There's a resort guide in English which they should be able to send you - it lists all the hotels with prices etc.

I think I'll have to give up on finding a catered chalet in Les 2 Alpes that isn't run by a TO. I can find privately run ones all over the Alps on the internet but not in Les 2 Alpes so it looks like the choice is TO or nothing. Anyone used any good TO catered chalets in Les 2 Alpes? I'm a bit wary of them after some not brilliant ones in the past. Private usually seems better.

snowyjon, how about this one. It is in Venosc though. Easiski will know more on the access to the skiing from there.

snowyjon, Sorry - I missd all this on this thread! Chalet Michelle is very nice, I've had clients who've stayed there and have been very happy. The problem is that Venosc has virtually no nightlife, and the last gondola goes down at about 6.30 pm. I could also recommend Pete and Lyn's catered apartment, you can check out photos etc on www.easiski.com/easiski_specials.htm Les Bluets is the building. They're not expensive, are convenient for lifts and other bars and cook very well! OTOH, don't expect anything posh. Rooms are small. I hope this helps. You can email them directly on lyn.pete@scuba-ski.com

snowyjon, I enjoyed Pete and Lyn's when I was there. Warm. Dry. Great food. Great hosts. Good location - including being a short walk to the Lutins bar (very important ).

Stayed in the hotel panorama last January, got cheap deal just before Xmas. The hotel accomadation was good, the food very good (sea bass for lunch, but chilli no good), free wine included. Overall very impressed.

I must admit that the majority of people at the hotel were french. But if they are mainly French the food is bound to be good.
