Those would've been junior racers. The schools use that pitch for slalom training.
Maybe a pile of cannoned snow that they're redistributing?

I’m flying to Venice Friday and, as I wasn’t sure on where to go, I haven’t booked a hotel yet to ski Saturday and Sunday.
Looking at the webcams it looks like ski conditions are similar across the main resorts. Has anyone any steer on expected slope openings for this weekend and more so if any areas are best avoided due to low percentages of slopes opening. Was thinking of Canazei, as I know it, but would anywhere else be better?

I have no special knowledge, but you can check the openings live tomorrow here, all the Sella Ronda lifts should be open: https://www.dolomitisuperski.com/it/live-info/impianti
You might find they open up even more at the weekend too.
In terms of getting there from Venice, I would say Arabba would be slightly easier than Canazei.
Also, with the new 3S gondola at Campitello not opening until Xmas week, it might put more burden on the Canazei gondola, but might not be an issue as it's very early season.
Also spotted this in Colfosco available for 3 nights...there seems to be nearly half of Alta Badia ski area open already on that list

Given that you know Canazei - I would go for that (saves time working out routes etc)
===
Just looked at Arabba webcams - Burz and Fly both operating - a few skiers about :: Burz black unpisted tho'..
Ronda Green fully open : Orange 'interrupted'

Please apply some caution to Roman's offer.
Apologies to Roman if he is genuine, but someone could end up sending money and not having a booking.
Definitely speak to the owners of the apartment, the family Frenademetz, before proceeding.

nice to see skiing on what looks like a light cover of fresh snow on the Boe webcam. Sella Ronda is showing as open anti clockwise, wish I was there
|

|
|
 You know it makes sense.
|
So just running through what is open around the four corners of the Sella Ronda today:
Alta Badia: 79%lifts 43%pistes
Val Gardena/AdS: 42%lifts 39%pistes
Val di Fassa/Carezza: 51%lifts 76%pistes
Arabba/Marmolada: 40%lifts 65%pistes
Obviously that doesn't tell the whole story as some pistes and lifts are very short and some areas have a lot more lifts and pistes than others.
And if you're staying in one corner you can access the others, assuming links are open.
It's the new Lezuo 10person gondola that is closed which is interrupting the Orange clockwise SR. Hopefully it's only a teething issue that will be fixed soon!
https://www.funivie.org/web/nuova-cabinovia-decaposto-lezuo-sul-pordoi-pronta-per-linverno-2025-2026/
@LeLanternVert, that place I found on booking.com in Colfosco might be a good option, as from there you can hit the numerous Alta Badia slopes locally and get over to Val Gardena and Arabba without the need for the Lezuo link if it's still down over the weekend. Coming from Venice, it's not far over the relatively low altitude Passo Campolongo from Arabba to Corvara and Colfosco is next village. The low altitude route is Belluno Agordo Alleghe Arabba, but if roads are clear then Google will usually say going via Val di Zoldo is quickest. You will be driving right past Civetta ski area if you wanted something nearer to Venice, though only 8 key lifts open there today.

There are several red flags around this post, so anyone proceeding with an enquiry around the offer should do so with extreme caution - I have wrapped the original post in a Spoiler tag for that reason.
Issues:
1. User account created today
2. User email at gmail
3. Email address uses a Russian name
4. Posts were made from an IP address reported to be in the UAE
5. The email address has been added to a database of spam reports by a different forum today
6. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is... you have no way to verify that they have a valid booking, or that it is transferable, and there is a significant chance that you pay some money, travel to Italy, and discover that the apartment is occupied and the owner has no idea who you are and even less idea who Roman is.

@roman_i, that's why your posts and account remain active - there are red flags, but not enough for the moderators or admins to simply delete your account and posts. I presume you can understand why this sort of post should be treated with suspicion. Anyone taking you up on it has to do their own checks, and if it was me, I'd be wanting my payment to go to the property owner and for them to refund your payment, rather than paying €3K to a random personal account somewhere outside of Italy.
Now if you had a 6 month history of posting here and being helpful and engaged with the community, it would be a slightly different matter, but still somewhat risky.

Good weather for skiing and piste maintenance. light wind, good visibility and the air is getting drier again.
The Sella Ronda opened today, I believe. Across the connected areas of Arabba, Val di Fassa, Val Gardena and Alta Badia there are an indicated 253kms and 139 lifts open.

Kronplatz now up to 81kms and 24 lifts

Some great stats there!
As noted further up, the Green (anti-clockwise) Sella Ronda was open, but the Orange (clockwise) was 'interrupted' at the new Lezuo gondola, which is currently still marked as closed...

Saw that being built as well and a massive water reservoir under the slope opposite. Don’t think they’ll have a water shortage there now !

Do you guys know any app where I can see:
A) Number of open km of Sella Ronda Ski Resorts
B) interactive map only showing the open slopes (in the dolomiti super ski app I need to zoom in several times in order to know slope is closed or open)
Thanks!

@luigi, be careful with the secret snow heads sellaronda slip, the Pordoi piste is showing closed on the Dolomiti superski app.

Yes, I was seeing that, but thought those hotels on the pass would be screaming blue murder to get it pisted and open with guests arriving and not able to get to the local ski area.
Sounds like it's a moot point now with the Lezuo gondola open...
