 Poster: A snowHead

The joys of self build trips and finding bargains.
So I was resigned to paying epic money for my epic pass for a couple of days boarding at Whistler but while searching I stumbled across buying day passes for much reduction ($516 CAD for 2 days for 2 people) as long as I buy before tomorrow.
Anyone done this, any pitfalls to look out for? I know it will be slightly more cause this price is ex Tax.
Also has anyone done pass on their phone? This saves paying for postage on a physical pass and appears to communicate with the lift gates via bluetooth.

C$516 for 4 days seems like a pretty good deal - hard to beat. Do you really have to pay postage on a physical pass and not just pick up at the window? Regardless no downside to pass on your phone as if it fails they should still be able to sort it at the window.

scottishandy, Thats a decent price for 2 days, its only going to go one way. Havent bought day tickets for Whistler but have for other canadian ski areas, without any problems. Usually you'd just collect from the ticket office.
Edited - You sure thats not for each person ? seems very cheap tbh - Apex is a similar price to that for a day rate - unless you're visiting at a very off peak time.
If its correct I'd grab em now.
As Dave of the Marmottes, says go the phone route any problems go to ticket office

Not done that deal, just season pass but we have gone to the ticket office with a phone pass (or epic account details), when they only posted one of our passes and got a physical ticket issued.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It's all app based these days, or at least I've only used my phone (not the epic card) last season at least. No postage service required.
Maybe you can get paper stuff, but I can't see why anyone would.
There is a cut off date for the reasonably priced day passes - I'm not sure when that is. I'd better check.

You're right for NA epic resorts. However some of us self identify as dinosaurs and prefer a physical pass in our pocket. For epic euro resorts you need the physical pass.
"The My Epic app and Mobile Pass technology is available at Vail Resorts’ 37 owned and operated North American Resorts. It will not be available outside of North America and you will need to bring your physical pass or lift ticket card with you when visiting resorts outside of North America at this time."
Early bird offers end tomorrow it seems.

To be fair Euro resorts will identify you from your pass on your phone to issue their pass. Which comes in handy when the wee wee poor eco ink on your physical card has worn away the number.

We don't all get to spend months maxing out its use. Also how did that happen if you were actually using your phone instead?

Wasn't using my phone. Oldschool luddite - digital media card or whever they call those RFID cards anyway. Though Vail places still like to gun you rather than have gates IME.

Yeah the prices creep up at various points through the season so we always bought as early as possible. Go for it. I had the pass sent and the subsequent years loaded automatically

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder on the timing for that. It's the same as last year, just downloads to the app.
They changed the cut off date, made it earlier, and the price went up 5% for the 4 day thing:
November 09, 2024 $481.95
October 08, 2025 $506.10
