Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Innsbruck airport transfer to Mayrhofen Feb 26

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Good morning, I hope I am in the right place. Looking to go book a DIY trip to Mayrhofen the first week in February. Looking for a decent price transfer company. The best so far I have been quoted is £114 PP return from Innsbruck. Anyone have any suggestions?

@red, use public transport, especially as Mayrhofen is one of the easiest places to get to by train. Route is:
Innsbruck airport > bus to Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof > train to Jenbach > light railway to Mayrhofen
Download the VVT Tickets app and buy a ticket all the way through from the airport. You can do this on the day, price is currently about €20 each way.

Is public transport okay with ski bags?

Yes, of course.

@red, for that price, I'll do it at steal of £90 pp return, if the authorities ask, we're friends and I'm picking you up for your holiday Laughing Laughing

But in all seriousness, just do what @Scarlet suggests. It's slower but it's really easy. You're probably looking around 2hrs when you take account of the waits for trains.

You can download the ÖBB app and buy your ticket on arrival.

have done this journey loads of times and its super super easy, as folks have said

airport bus right outside the terminal will drop you at the main bus station at the railway station, jump on any train stopping at jenbach and then switch at jenbach for mayrhofen. Mayrhofen is the end of the line so can't really go wrong. once off the train depending on your hotel its either a short walk or a quick taxi to your accommodation.

My only tip, when getting on the train at jenbach use the carriages with the low floor, they are more modern and have larger areas for luggage, much easier than the ones with the steps!

Cheers guys. My flight would only land at Innsbruck at 18.50. I would have to check but possibly too late for public transport?

Also, I maybe a solo traveller. Does anyone know any single rooms and shared dorms about in Mayrhofen?

@red, Might be a bit tight for the last Jenbach to Mayrhofen train but probably OK if plane on time. Check the OEBB app.

Train. May as well get used to it if you plan to venture out into other ziller resorts with the ski pass and not just mayrhofen.

@red, last train is at 20:07, you then have a bus at 20:20 and the final one at 21:15.

So you should have no issues using public transport, but it might make your journey at lot longer if you end up with a big wait in Jenbach.

Thanks guys, looks like train is viable as long as the flight is ontime. Thanks for the help
